"When Forests Dream” & “Assembly”
06-13 September 2026

at Metropolis Cph summer program

“Déjà-vu”
1 August kl. 18.-19:15

A "glitch" and a summing. An unsettling illusion of having previously experienced, the last tree years of ‘The Forests Imaginary Trials’ performances 2023-2025. A retrieve of memories even for those who weren’t there. Sparking a feeling of recognition, in a completly new setting when explicit memory faded from your recall. Three intertwined projects, buidling new experienced memories with the audience, on how things interconnect.

At Black Annex, Metropolis. Performed by Sara Gebran and guest.

"When Forests Dream” & “Assembly”

06-12 September kl. 19:30 - 21:15 (1:45 hour)

We call upon the souls of all that exists to gather in a collective act of grieving and dreaming the other.

When Forests Dream is an immersive journey into a forest and its ghosts, where one encounters the spirits of a forest that has disappeared due to deforestation. A luminous procession, guided by five performers, moves through the landscape- sounding, singing, and dancing with the audience and all surrounding Beings.

When Forests Dream is the fourth chapter of an eight-year project working with the theater as a fictional courtroom (The Forests’ Imaginary Trials), inviting the audience as jury in defense of Nature. The project aims to explore new ways of representing both humans and the-more-than-human world, addressing environmental injustice as global political systems appear unwilling to act. Through the yearly ASSEMBLY, theatre becomes a site of collective imagination and speculative justice.

Performers & Singers: Olivia Riviere, Snorre Hansen, Sarah Butchner, Sara Gebran.

Assembly 2026
13 September kl. 14:00-18:00, at Teatersale

This years ASSEMBLY unfolds as a half day performative gathering, separate from yet interconnected with the yearly performance. Built as a progression from the performance -a continuation, a deepening. It weaves discursive and performative practices. Special guests are invited to share their knowledge and practices when relevant: artists, environmental experts (including lawyers and scientists), Indigenous participants, and activists. Discussions will take place in both large and small groups, combined with performative rituals, sound, and our bodies, engaged together-thinking, sensing, and acting together.

Developed in collaboration with Siegmar Zacharias, Katarina Hovden and Sara Gebran.

Supported by: Statens Kunstfond, Wilhelm Hansen Fonden, Københavns Kommune Scenekunst, Knud Hjøgaards Fond.
Co-produced by: Metropolis Cph & Anex Metropolis.
