We congregate today to experience ancestral trends of thought, perhaps new to some, in terms of considering nature as a subject - or personhood - with legal rights to exist, develop and evolve according to they natural course, just as they are granted to human beings.

This line of thought requires our effort to be disseminated, discussed and developed collectively with different languages that we still have to continue generating together, through similar congregations.

Today, people from various disciplines participate with a multiplicity of languages and practices, with the intention of reaching the public more effectively, using the power of art - its gestural, visual and sonorous sensibility - intertwined and in collaboration with the jurisprudence of the earth and anthropology.

We want to denounce ecocide and also begin to collectively propose other forms of coexistence with all that surrounds us, positioning ourselves as part of nature. That is, as the caretakers of nature, and try to direct our collective actions to safeguard the conditions of habitability of our planet Earth.

This meeting is part of an investigation that Sara Gebran initiated in 2023, and will continue for the next few years. In the next meeting Sara and her team of artists-researchers will meet 2 environmental lawyers, a forensic architect and anthropologists and artists from various parts of the world, throughout 2024 to exchange and generate practices on environmental laws, art practices in relation to ecology and anthropological practices focused on the defense of the forests, which will be partly shared in the upcoming performance “The Forests Trial” oct. 2024. Aiming to produce effective tools that we can share with all citizens to defend nature locally and globally, and to create a collective of future work, connecting arts and science.

Hoy nos congregarnos hoy para experimentar tendencias ancestrales de pensamientos, tal vez nuevas para algunos en cuanto a la consideración de la naturaleza como sujeto -o persona (personhood)- con derechos legales de existir, desarrollarse y evolucionar según su curso natural, tal cual se otorgan a los seres humanos.

Esta linea de pensamiento requiere de nuestro esfuerzo para ser diseminado, discutido y desarrollado colectivamente con lenguajes diferentes que aún tenemos que seguir generando juntos, mediante congregaciones similares.

Hoy participan personas de varias disciplinas con una multiplicidad de lenguajes y prácticas, que tienen como intención llegar más efectivamente al público, usando el poder del arte -su sensibilidad gestual, visual y sonora- entrelazado y en colaboración con la jurisprudencia de la tierra y la antropología.

Queremos denunciar el ecocidio y también comenzar a proponer colectivamente otras formas de coexistencia con todo lo que nos rodea, posicionándonos como parte de la naturaleza. Es decir, como los cuidadores y salvaguardas de la naturaleza e intentar dirigir nuestras acciones colectivas para salvaguardar las condiciones de habitabilidad de nuestro planeta Tierra.

Este encuentro es parte de una investigación que Sara Gebran inició en el 2023, y continuará durante los próximos años. En el próximo encuentro Sara y su equipo de artistas-investigadores se reunirán con 2 abogados ambientalistas, un arquitecto forense y antropólogos y artistas de diversas partes del mundo, a lo largo de 2024 para intercambiar y generar practices sobre las leyes ambientalistas, el arte en relación a la ecología y las prácticas antropológicas enfocadas en la defensa de los bosques, que serán en parte compartidas en la próxima performance "El Juicio de los Bosques" 07.10.2024. Con la finalidad de producir herramientas efectivas que podamos compartir con todos los ciudadanos para defender a la naturaleza a nivel local y globalmente, y crear un colectivo de trabajo futuro, conectando las artes y la ciencia
